Why We Love This Fall Tree Craft

This Pom Pom Painting Fall Tree Craft is such a fun way to celebrate the beauty of fall. Each child can get creative with where they place their leaves, and no two trees look the same.

It’s also a wonderful fine motor and sensory activity — kids practice control as they stamp their “leaves” onto the branches. Plus, it’s quick to set up and doesn’t require any complicated supplies.

Tip: Pair this craft with another cozy fall activity to make a full afternoon of fun.

How to Make It

1. Start with the tree trunk

Color the trunk and branches brown. Use crayons, markers, or paint — whatever your kids prefer. If you choose paint, let it dry before moving on.

2. Make your “paint brushes”

Clip a pom pom into a clothespin. This creates an easy-to-hold stamper that’s perfect for little hands.

3. Add the fall leaves

Dip the pom pom into the paint and start stamping! Use a different pom pom for each color. Let your kids mix and layer colors to make their trees extra bright.

4. Let dry and display

Once finished, let the paintings dry completely. Then hang them up to bring some fall cheer to your home. I enjoy displaying my children’s art work on these framed corkboards!
