Are you curious how to eat keto at a restaurant? Do you wonder how do you stay low carb while dining out? GOOD NEWS- it is pretty easy and simple to do, you just have to know what to look for and how to order. It’s possible to enjoy good low carb food and stay on track when out at a restaurant. A lot of it is about modifying about what they already have. Here are some basic tips to keep it simple and stay on track.👇

Skip the starch

This means saying no to the rolls, bread, buns, pasta, rice, tortillas, potatoes. If a starch comes with your meal, swap it for a side salad or a low carb vegetable. If you find a burger or sandwich you want, ask for no bun or swap it for a lettuce wrap.

Keep an eye on sauces and condiments

You’ll want to stay away from the ketchup and any sweet sauces such as (teriyaki, BBQ sauce, honey mustard etc.) Stay away from the sweet salad dressings (you can usually tell by the name). If unsure about the dressings, your best bet is to opt for full fat dressings such as ranch, blu cheese, caesar or an oil and vinegar based dressing.

No fried food

Choose grilled instead of breaded. Swap your fries for a side salad or veggie. Choose an appetizer that’s not fried.

Watch out for added carbs on salads

Salads are a great option, but be mindful what is on the salad. Many times salads can be packed with carbs because what is on it! Look out for croutons, candied nuts, fruit (except berries and avocado), beans, corn, or any other starchy carb! and This doesn’t mean this is off limits for you– just eliminate the starch! Cobb salads are always a good option!

Stay away from the sugary drinks

Opt for water instead of pop. Be careful about alcoholic beverages. A lot of your mixed drinks or sweet wines are going to be loaded with sugar! Opt for a light beer or a dry wine.

✔️Salad topped with a protein (chicken or steak) + bacon, cheese, low carb veggies, avocado & ranch dressing!

✔️Steak plus side salad or low carb veggies

✔️Fajitas without the tortilla, no rice or beans

✔️Charcuterie boards (meats, cheeses, nuts, olives, pickles, low carb berries)✔️
