What Is Mod Podge?

If you’ve never used Mod Podge before, it’s one of the best crafting supplies to keep on hand. It works as both glue and a sealer. When brushed on top of tissue paper, it dries clear and gives the vase a smooth, protective finish. It keeps the tissue paper from peeling and adds a nice shine, too.

You can find Mod Podge here on Amazon. A small bottle goes a long way and works great for all kinds of kids’ crafts!

What You’ll Need

How to Make a Tissue Paper Vase

  1. Cut the tissue paper.
Cut the tissue paper into different shapes — squares, rectangles, and even a few hearts if you want to make it extra special. We used assorted colors to make it bright and cheerful.
  2. Add Mod Podge.
Using your brush, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to a small section of the vase.
  3. Stick the tissue paper.
Place the tissue paper shapes onto the vase, smoothing them down gently. Keep layering and overlapping until the whole vase is covered.
  4. Seal with Mod Podge.
Once the vase is covered, brush on a final top coat of Mod Podge. This helps seal the tissue paper and gives it a glossy, finished look.
  5. Let it dry.
Allow the vase to dry completely. Once it’s dry, it’s ready to be gifted or displayed!
